This fall, Friends Seminary athletes from the Upper and Middle Schools showcased incredible teamwork, determination, and resilience across various sports. The season was filled with thrilling matches, memorable moments, and significant growth.

Upper School
Varsity Tennis
Varsity Tennis shone brightly this season, culminating in a triumphant ACIS Championship victory on Friday, October 25, against Léman Manhattan at Columbia University. The doubles teams set the stage with early wins, securing two crucial points for the Owls. In a thrilling conclusion, Skylar '28 claimed victory in second singles, solidifying Friends’ title as 2x ACIS Champions.

Cross Country
The Owls Cross Country team competed fiercely at the ACIS Championship at Van Cortlandt Park on Wednesday, October 30. Facing strong competition, the team delivered commendable performances. Chase '27 finished 19th for the boys, while Rebecca '25 earned a 13th-place finish for the girls, marking a successful end to a season of dedication and growth. Congratulations to all runners for their perseverance throughout the fall!
Varsity Girls Soccer
Varsity Girls Soccer capped off their season in the ACIS Championship at Owl Hollow against Berkeley Carroll. Despite a determined effort, the Owls fell to a strong Lions team, 4-1. Orla '28 scored the lone goal for Friends, showcasing the team's resilience and drive. The Owls are already looking forward to another shot at the championship next season.

JV Boys Soccer
JV Boys Soccer concluded their season with a hard-fought match against Berkeley Carroll at Calvert Vaux Park. Liav '28 opened the scoring with a first-half goal, but the Lions equalized late in the second half on a penalty kick, ending the game in a 1-1 draw. The Owls displayed grit and determination, wrapping up their season on a high note.

JV Volleyball
JV Volleyball closed their season with a spirited match against Berkeley Carroll. Despite falling in two sets, the team’s hard work and sportsmanship throughout the season were evident. Their resilience and growth promise an exciting season ahead.
Varsity Boys Soccer
Varsity Boys Soccer clinched the #3 seed in the ACIS playoff where they faced Avenues in a Semifinal match at Owl Hollow in Staten Island. The Owls were trailing until they had a late run in the second half when they scored back to back goals to force an overtime. The Aviators scored off a penalty kick with little time remaining in OT to earn the victory. It was a great effort by the Owls who fell short but not with a tremendous amount of fight.

Varsity Girls Volleyball
Varsity Girls Volleyball defeated Brooklyn Friends in the Semifinal round of the ACIS playoffs to advance to the Championship against Berkeley Carroll The Lions got off to a strong start and won the first two sets but Friends refused to go out in three sets. The Owls battled back and brought the score to 2-1. The momentum was with Friends early in the 4th set but the Lions closed the gap and came up victorious winning the ACIS Championship. Congratulations to the Owls for a tremendous season!
Middle School
7/8 Girls Soccer
The 7/8 Girls Soccer team ended their season with a competitive game against Columbia Prep at Randall’s Island. The Owls played one of their best games, creating numerous scoring opportunities. Despite falling 3-2, their effort and determination were commendable throughout the season.
7/8 Boys Soccer
The 7/8 Boys Soccer team had two tough matches to close out their season. On Monday, Friends faced Avenues on Monday at Pier 40. The Aviators took control of the game and scored early and often to defeat Friends 8-0. The Owls returned to Pier 40 on Wednesday to host Buckley. Friends generated some offensive runs to notch 2 goals on the scoreboard but Buckley held onto the lead and defeated Friends. Thank you to those you participated!
6th Grade Boys Soccer
The 6th Grade Boys Soccer team wrapped up their season with a closely contested match against LFNY at Randall’s Island. The Owls displayed excellent possession play in a thrilling game that ended in a narrow 3-2 loss. A fantastic effort by all players!
6th Grade Girls Soccer
The 6th Grade Girls Soccer team concluded their season with an intersquad scrimmage at Pier 40. The scrimmage highlighted the growth and camaraderie of the team, capping off a great season.
Cross Country raced in the final “Fun Run” of the season at Shore Park Road in Brooklyn. The Owls went out on the course and gave their best effort. Malek ‘31 medaled in the race earning 1st place with an impressive time of 9:08. Congratulations to those who participated this season.
On Sunday, October 13, Jasper '30 delivered an outstanding performance at the Manhattan Invitational, securing 3rd place overall in the 7th and 8th grade race. Among 134 runners, he was the 2nd 7th grader to cross the finish line, clocking an impressive time of 8:53.30 in the 2400-meter finals. Congratulations, Jasper!
