How to Make a Gift

You can make your charitable contribution using any of the following options:

Cash: The simplest method is to write a check made payable to Friends Seminary.

Credit Cards: Friends accepts American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa via phone, mail or visit our secure website, www.friendsseminary.org/give.

Gifts of Stock and Appreciated Securities: A popular alternative to a cash gift because it avoids capital gains tax on securities held long-term and may provide an income tax deduction equal to the fair market value at the date of transfer. Download these two forms (stock gift form and stock gift form for broker) to assist you in the process of electronically transferring stock. The broker form contains information that your broker will need to execute the transaction, and the Friends Seminary form will help the School administer your gift properly.

To transfer stock:
Broker: Goldman Sachs
DTC Participant # 0005
Account Name: Friends Seminary
Account Number: 030481212

Friends Seminary Tax ID: 90-1185581

For Further information regarding stocker transfers, email advancement@friendsseminary.org.

To Transfer Mutual Funds:
Please contact Gloria Wong or Michael Walsh at First Republic Securities Company at Onlinebrokerage@firstrepublic.com.

Depreciated Securities
: You may consider selling depreciated securities, declaring the capital loss, and donating the sale proceeds. The gift of cash is then deductible and the capital loss can help offset capital gains in the current year or be carried over into future years.

Recurring Gifts: You also have the option of making a recurring gift.  Donors have the opportunity to schedule regular and more affordable gifts. Click here to download the recurring gifts form.

Wire Transfer: While most donors send personal checks, Friends Seminary also accepts cash gifts by wire transfer. To make a gift by wire, please contact advancement@friendsseminary.org.

Matching Gifts: Many companies have matching gifts available for their employees, retirees, board members, and their families. You can double or triple your gift if you, your spouse, or your partners work for a company with a matching gift program. Please check with your human resources office for more information.
