"We prepare students to engage in the world that is and to help bring about a world that ought to be."

Grade 8 Closing Ceremonies

Dear Grade 8 students and families,

While this gathering will not take place as you may have imagined it, on a sunny day in the Courtyard and Meetinghouse at Friends, I promise you it will not hold less significance for you or your families years from now. Even in the middle of a global pandemic, this is an occasion to mark and to celebrate. You have arrived upon a major milestone and in a very short time, you will all be high schoolers!

Together, we have created a special ceremony for Friday, June 12 and I am really looking forward to it! In anticipation of June 12, I want to invite you to consider how you will prepare for the day.

Along with your family, you might want to decorate your space at home, or set up a comfortable and festive place from which to participate in the Closing Ceremonies as a family. You might want to bake or cook something special to mark the occasion. And most importantly, I hope you will think about what you want to wear and make it special for the day, even though we are not together.

While our Closing Ceremonies will be unconventional this year, I am hopeful they will not be lacking in magic. We look forward to gathering with you on June 12!

Sincerely, Pankti, Penney and the Middle School Team
